OUTERWEAR

Looking into the history of the trench coat evolving from waterproof coats worn in the trenches during world war 1, to being key fashion items on the runway.

Inspired by the Parthenon Marbles in Athens, Greece, one of the world’s greatest cultured monuments. A symbol of modern western civilisation and the cultural identity of Greece. Made to reference the peplos fabric worn in these sculptures and how they drape over the body and gather in ways that exaggerates the features.

Therefore, linking this to my designer, Yohji Yamamoto who creates oversized silhouettes and asymmetrical cuts with exceptional drapery that makes an impact on the audience.
